Hey all you quarantiners, quarantinnials, and quarantones!
First of all, I want to just say thank you for all of your feedback on what you want to see for our little art journey together! I heard you and am working on plans for all the things.
Seems to me like it’s early week one and we’re already a bit b.o.r.e.d. Amiright? So today, we’re jumping in real nice and easy to this whole #quarantART. This one is not only for you parents out there with energy-packed kiddos, it’s also for all my stir crazy professionals who need something other than a screen to look at during your lunch break. I promise that we will jump into projects and classes that take up a little more time, but figured the more content at your fingertips the better! So here is just a little something.
Break out those colored pencils, crayons, or multicolored work pens and take some time to let your brain run free! When you’re done, post your pieces online with the hashtag #quarantART and tag @madelinerosedesigns. Maybe even send it over to a friend who needs a friendly reminder that #socialdistancing is the coolest thing you can be doing.

Or maybe you’re not here to mess around. Look, we respect that too. If you’re going to take the time to be artsy, you want it to count! I hear you. Here’s a line drawing that is a crowd favorite. Print it on a heavy duty card stock, grab some watercolors and salt, and try your hand at an abstract background! There’s no wrong way to do this.
You don’t have any watercolors? No prob. Sprinkle some of your favorite vibrantly colored spices (think turmeric, chili powder, beet powder?….) and dribble or spray water on them!
You don’t have spices? That’s cool too. Maybe you grabbed some crayons from the last restaurant chain you went to 10 years ago. Shave some little flakes in the general area you want to ‘paint’ and then use your hair dryer to melt and spread them around. (Don’t blast them on high right away, it’ll just blow them away.) Alternatively, microwave your paper with the shavings on it.
Remember, have fun and stay home!
Let’s make this whole thing pass over quickly. It’s the kindest thing we can do :)
